
Walter Elias Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor, and film producer. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Oswald the lucky rabbit, Cinderella, Pluto, Snow White, etc are some memorable cartoon characters created by Disney who won millions of hearts. In short, Disney is the reason behind the golden memories of everybody’s childhood.
Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago. Disney was a shy, self-deprecating and insecure man in private but adopted a warm and outgoing public persona. As a producer, Disney holds a record of earning most individual Academy Awards with a total count of 22.
Disney’s story begins in the early 1920s when he moved to California and set up the Disney Brothers Studio with his brother Roy. He got a huge success with the creation of “Micky Mouse” in 1928. Afterward, he created a number of cartoon characters loved by both children and adults.
The Walt Disney Company (formerly known as Disney Brothers Studio), or commonly known as Disney, now created and acquired multiple corporate divisions in order to market more mature content to the viewers. Disney was a heavy smoker throughout his life and died of lung cancer on December 15, 1966, aged 65. He nevertheless remains an important figure in the history of animation.
